June: Men's Mental Health Awareness Month

Man breaks the chains and gains freedom. The concept of gaining freedom. Black and white.

We all know the phrase “man up.” But what if true strength lies in speaking up? This June, Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re launching the #SilenceIsNotStrength campaign to smash the stigma around men seeking help for mental health.

Just like the powerful words in our companion article “Man Up? Let’s Talk About Men’s Mental Health“, we believe vulnerability is a sign of humanity, not weakness.

Here’s how you can join the movement:

  1. Follow Us and Share Our Content:

We’ll be sharing powerful statistics, inspiring stories, and resources all throughout June. Follow us on our Social Media Platforms; Twitter: masozera_africa, Instagram: masozera_africa, Facebook: masozera_africa for daily content tagged with #SilenceIsNotStrength.

  1. Share Your Voice:

Phase 1: Awareness (Week 1):

  • Reflect on the message “Man Up: It’s okay to not be okay.”
  • Repost our content and share what mental health means to you.

Phase 2: Participation (Weeks 2 & 3):

  • Use #SilenceIsNotStrength to share your thoughts on men’s mental health.
  • Participate in our video challenge if you can: Share a 1-minute video about your experiences or self-care practices (tag us!).
  1. Get Support:

Phase 3: Support & Resources (Week 4):

  • We’ll be highlighting resources for men seeking help, including hotlines, websites, and therapy options.
  • Learn about local men’s support groups.

Together, let’s create a world where men can be strong AND vulnerable. Let’s make it okay for men to talk about mental health. Let’s make #SilenceIsNotStrength a roar.
