We all know the saying or have used it before “never judge a book by the cover”, pause and think about it for a second. We have been taught not to just look at somebody and say, I think this person is poor, or maybe they are bad mannered or maybe, wow, she’s nice, she’s beautiful because of how they look on the outside. But think again for a moment, did you ever find out if what you saw on the outside is actually true from the inside? Did you get the detail of that beauty? Did you get the aspect of that poverty that you shade on somebody else because of how they look?
I’m here to tell you that we’re going to break the norm of never judge a book by the cover. Because as an image expert, I say that we want to REFLECT OUR IMAGE FROM THE INSIDE OUT, meaning whatever you are in the inside is what should come out on the outside. Remember perception is reality so if you want to be seen as a poor person, then you need to feel and think like one. If you want to be looked at on the outside as a beautiful person, then you need to be beautiful from the inside out. We are going to allow ourselves to be judged by the cover. You’re wondering Loy, how can that happen? It can actually happen by you working on your inward part first.
If you feel terrible, angry or if you’re sad, you’ll definitely pick an outfit that reflects that mood or feeling. Today I assure you that when you allow yourself to be judged by the cover, you will have embarked on a journey of living a real life. You will do realistic things. Your actions will match your thoughts and ideologies which will reflect in your speech. There is no way you are not going to have a pure heart and then look like a terrible person. I don’t know what your definition of terrible is but probably we could use that as an example, work on your mind, have pure thoughts towards yourself, other people and the environment around you.
When I was working in television, we were trained that a viewer has seven seconds to decide whether they watch your program or they don’t watch it. There are chances that in those seven seconds the presenter has not said anything but they only have seven seconds to influence the decision of the viewer. Please understand that nobody gives you a chance to say something before they actually judge you by the cover. When you walk into that meeting, conference hall, when you walk into your home, you have seven seconds for whoever is looking at you to judge you and decide their perception of you.
So, do you still want to be afraid of being judged by the cover No, but what do you have to do in order not to be afraid to be judged by the cover? Enrich your mind with positivity. The image you want the people to see on the outside is what you should create from within you. So, whatever knowledge you need, whatever technique you need, whatever consultation you need to make in order to become that person, you need to make it today. When you walk into that room and present your pitch or your CV, whatever they have seen you dress like; in that suit or whatever dress you lady are wearing, you need to look like what you’re going to say. The world doesn’t have time to listen to you, but they have plenty of time to look at you and decide if you’re going to win that contract, take the job, be given that piece of work or if you’re going to be successful at all.
