QN: What does wellness mean to you ?

Wellness is living in good health in simple terms . To me, wellness is a general human necessity in order to live a good life and I classify it into 4 categories rooted in my Christian beliefs;

1. Physical, which requires me to exercise regularly, eat healthy ( portions of a balanced diet and not in extreme of anything ). The Bible forbids gluttony in Titus 1:12 . One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.” Gluttony is likened disgrace and laziness as well as giving in to the desires of the flesh which is not Godly.

The Bible encourages us to eat healthy. In the Bible, Daniel during the fast he fed on vegetables and fruits and he kept healthy than the king and his servants who fed on all kinds of food ( meat and wine ) Also, when Elijah was hiding from the wrath of the king in 1 kings 17:6, the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.
The raven bringing food twice a day, represents the true order of a Christian eating habits.

2. Spiritual wellness talks of the state of one’s mind and heart being spiritually aligned to the thoughts of God. When your thoughts are in line with God you can not be unhealthy. God promised us Good health and peace that surpasses all understanding.

Proverbs 17:22 says “a merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” This clearly means that anything that breaks the heart crushes your spirit and takes your life, so reading the word of God keeps your spirit aligned to his thoughts hence being spiritually well.

3. Social wellness means making friends that help support your well-being . The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:3 “do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good characters.” You can not have bad friends which lead to bad character and you have a good state of mind. Everything around you will crumble, hence your life going down the drain and losing yourself to depression.

Proverbs 13:20 “Walk with the wise and become wise, for companion of fools suffers harm. When you walk with the wise, the decisions you make in life will brighten your path which is a pathway to wellness”

4. Prayer. The Bible says prayer preserves. When you are a constant seeker of God’s presence you are preserved. Anything that seeks to devour your life is rendered powerless because the Lord gives life to them that seek Him . Acts 17:25 days “Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. In His presence is fullness of Joy and life in abundance.” With this surety there is no way one can not live a good life.

QN: Are you currently prioritizing your well being? Why? If Yes, how?

Yes. I prioritize my wellness by practicing self love through prayer and prioritizing my physical wellness, spiritual wellness, socially wellness and above all by loving people because Love never fails. Love is the greatest commandment because it reflects Gods relentless love toward humanity. When you love there is a place of unexplainable joy and satisfaction it brings to the soul. This is at-most therapy to the soul.

QN: What can we do to make wellness a priority?

A woman’s wellness can be made a priority when one understands who they are ; firstly to God, man and the world.

A woman in the Bible is described as a virtuous woman. One who leads her home with integrity and discipline. A helper suitable to (the) man and one who has the power over her womb. This means a woman has the power to align a destiny of what is in her womb. We see that in 1 Samuel 1 a story of Hannah who was barren and she cried unto the Lord. In her prayer, she asked for a son and dedicated her to the Lord and we saw how she aligned the destiny of her son Samuel to kingship.

When a woman knows her worth and authority, she ceases to give her life to anything and anyone that does not glorify God. You cast your cares to God and He takes care of you hence directing your path. That way, your well-being is preserved because the Lord directs your path.
